We had a GREAT family day yesterday! We enjoyed watching the Battle Of Flowers Parade, ate tons of yummy food on The River Walk and learned a little Texas History at The Alamo (Couper loves to sing the song about Davie Crockett so we showed him that Davie fought at the Alamo). There was some good music too! At the end of the day I asked Couper what his favorite part was and he said the drums (he has been playing drums all day long on everything) and horses! I love Family Day!

Fiesta
Today was Fiesta (party) at Couper’s school! You could feel the excitement in the air as the children waited to ride their bikes in the parade. They looked so cute and colorful. Couper got a little Texas History and now his Texas blood runs a little thicker, just like his daddy’s who is very PROUD to be from the greatest state in the world!
When Couper’s teacher Mrs. Sheryl said that they were going to have a Fiesta at school and we needed to decorate Couper’s bike. I had to ask what is Fiesta? She said it was a celebration or a big party and it is full of lots of color. When I got home I researched what Fiesta in San Antonio was…so here is a little Texas history for those of you who aren’t from Texas (that would be me).
By 1890, San Antonio, Texas, was a thriving trade center with population of 38,000. In 1891 a group of citizens decided to honor the heroes of the Alamo and Battle of San Jacinto with the “Battle of Flowers.”
The first parade had horse-drawn carriages, bicycles decorated with fresh flowers and floats carrying children dressed as flowers. The Belknap Rifles represented the military. The participants pelted each other with blossoms.

ALL ABOARD The Happy Party Train!
We had a wonderful time with all of Couper’s special friends and our family that traveled to San Antonio to be a part of Couper’s 3rd Birthday! This year Couper understood what a Birthday Party was all about.
We didn’t have to think hard about a theme this year because Couper is consumed by trains! He had a part in planning his “Happy Party” (that is what he calls a Birthday Party). He chose the menu that was made up of hotdogs, cheese balls, pickles, red cool-aid and strawberry ice-cream…mmmm!!!
We all became train conductors and hopped on the Zoo Train for a 20 minute ride. We opened gifts and wrapped it up with a candy stuffed pinata. We had FUN FUN FUN!!!
Thank you to all that came to be a part of celebrating another year of Couper’s life!!!

Cake
Have you ever made a cake and left out an ingredient? What a disappointment it is when you take the cake out of the oven only to find that it has fallen in the middle or it looks great then when you take a bite and it doesn’t taste great!
We all know that Cake is made up of many individual ingredients…but as single elements these ingredients simply don’t make a Cake. You can leave out one or maybe two ingredients and it still will look like a fabulous cake but it won’t taste as fabulous!
Think of your life as a “Cake” and the many ingredients that make up your life. You have spiritual, relational, emotional and physical ingredients. All fabulous Cakes start out with a great foundation and it is the same in our lives. Our foundation must start with Jesus and then the other ingredients are added depending on what kind of “Cake” you are.
Does your “Cake” have a great foundation?
